Proper Structured Wiring is essential for today's modern homes and Lifestyles!

The term structured wiring describes the process of distributing low voltage system cables throughout a buildings inner structure from a central distribution point or panels to multiple locations that require low voltage access points for cable TV or Satellite and communication ports for phone and network connectivity. A properly wired home includes adequate wiring for today and the ability to expand as technology changes and improves. Currently, most homes and businesses have only basic low voltage service throughout.

Many of the today's new homes offer only a fraction of what it might need to connect, control and distribute the systems being installed now. Video distribution or simple high speed internet connectivity can't be properly because the builder didn't find value in the additional cost. Homeowners have pushed for serious changes in the way builders market their homes. Recently there was a class action settlement against a few of the nations leading home builders over their misrepresentation of how their homes were being wired. Builders are just beginning to identify the added value of professionally installed structured pre-wiring and low voltage systems. Over the years builders have used their electricians to run the low voltage cables. The advanced electronic systems available now require a specialized trained professional to properly design and install structured wiring.

Caveman Home Theaters works with custom home builder, designers and architects to design and implement a structured wiring package that fits both the current and future needs of the end user. There are many qualifying questions that must be answered before a plan can be developed.

 

Pre-Wire vs.Retro-Wiring

Pre-wiring your home or business while it is under construction is obvious choice for several reasons. Cost being the most crucial, it is much more difficult running cabling across attics and down insulated wall after the drywall is installed.

New construction requires time management and strong working relationships with all the trades working the project. We prefer being the last trade on a project before insulation is installed and drywall is hung. This allows us to maintain the integrity of our work and our wires.

Retro work is the only option in older buildings and existing homes. Our experience has proven that we can get a wire anywhere. Retro work requires patching and repair to walls and ceilings. We have the resources to professionally repair, texture and paint almost any surface. Our pre-wire/retro-wire projects includes the following:

• A preliminary walk-through of the site, our audio, video, and communication outlets will be located and planned for..
• After drywall is hung and the home is nearly ready, another return trip is made to attach wall plates and cable outlets for media components.
• Finally, when the home theater is ready to be put into place, all components will be assembled, integrated and programmed.
